Because we love a girls’ night out more than
almost anything (‘anything’ being a girls’ night in!) we thought The Burlesque Boutique
team should start sharing some of our favourite tips, tricks and hints for
organising the perfect girls night out. So we’d like to start with an idea that
might not have occurred to you … take in a sporting event!
Yes, that’s right. Take a leaf out of the mens’
book and go get excited about some kind of contest. But before you click away,
take in our rules for the perfect girls night out: the sporty version
Dress the part -
our favourite events are really rather sexy. We like diving contests (think Tom
Daley …) tennis matches (pick your hottie - Rafa, Andy, Pete, Novak) and
cricket (cricket is full of fun for ladies) and we like to dress to suit, so
for diving we favour a retro bathing suit topped with a lush long skirt or maxi
dress, while for tennis and cricket we know that white outfits are de rigueur
so we’d opt for cream, white and pastel pink clothing with a little bit of an
edge, such as our cream lace vintage skirt. We can also get behind greyhound racing
… that’s more fun than you could ever imagine if you've never done it and we
like to use the same dress code for dog races as we would for horse racing -
pin-up style glamour like our halterneck dress which turns heads and makes us feel like an
Ascot winner wherever we wear it!
Drink it sporty -
you can’t really enjoy a sporting event without a good drink, but getting
tanked in the sports ground is just tacky. So we have some excellent mocktails
to suggest, try:
Virgin Pimms
• Brew a cup of black tea and then cool it
• Mix equal quantities cold black tea and ginger beer
• Add half a teaspoon each of of balsamic vinegar and brown sugar -
stir until dissolved
• Add chopped cucumber, strawberries, and orange slices and bruised
mint leaves
• Pour into two tall glasses and top up with lemonade
• Add a straw and sip.
Alternatively you could opt for:
Pure Strawberry Daiquiri
• Blend a small tin of pineapple chunks, a handful of frozen
strawberries, two tablespoons of white sugar and the nice of two limes until
smooth
• Pour into glasses (probably plastic if you’re in the sports ground)
• Decorate with fresh strawberries.
Remember, you can always go and sip the real
thing when your sports spectating is over.
Place a bet -
there’s nothing gets us as excited as cheering on our chosen participant and
then celebrating our success or drowning our sorrows.
Plan your full time analysis - then you can head to the bar in which you’ve reserved a table and
conduct a full post-mortem of the event, your betting strategy and what you’ve
learned. There is nothing as magnetic to men as women talking sport … so be
prepared to attract a lot of positive masculine attention!
